Notes from our founders - Note 3
As summer draws to an end, it might feel a little too early to be thinking about winter. But here in the workshop, winter is an all-year-round process.
We are still busy sewing winter orders, and although there’s always something being developed, it’s particularly exciting when the new season finally starts to arrive - not only with us, but in stores from London to New York and Tokyo. After months of behind-the-scenes work, we can finally start showing you what we’ve been working on.
Emma and I would also like to personally thank you for all the fantastic reviews that have been coming in. We genuinely love reading them.
And don’t forget, you can still enter our competition to win a Gushlow & Cole scarf simply by leaving a review of any product - or of us as a company. Good or bad, we want to hear it! The competition closes at the end of August.
Although, we should probably mention…no bad reviews yet!
A little something new
You may have noticed that we’ve added a pre-order facility to the website, which we hope will make it easier to secure the pieces and colours you really want.
Sometimes a particular colour becomes a favourite with our stores before the season has even begun, and much of the available shearling gets snapped up in reorders. Because our tannery lead times are so long, replacing those skins can take time.
Pre-ordering means we can reserve your chosen colour for you and make your piece as soon as the next skins arrive - so if you’ve fallen for something, you know one has your name on it.
Our early favourites
We’ve already chosen a few favourites from the new collection. Mongolian shearling is always hard to resist, and the new Large Clara Mongolian Bag will certainly be featuring on my arm this winter.

Then there’s the Joyce Gilet, which has a rather special story behind it. The original was one of my dad’s designs from the 1980s, made for my mum. We’ve brought it back and given it the Gushlow & Cole treatment: clean lines, generous proportions and, of course, fully reversible.
Back in the day, the gilet was so popular that all the machinists in the factory had one! The original was actually made in leather rather than sheepskin. And there could be a leather version on its way too…
We’ll see how much you like this one first.
We’re so excited to share the beginning of autumn at Gushlow & Cole with you.
After all the work that goes into creating each season, this is the bit we love - seeing the pieces leave our workshop and become part of your wardrobes.
We hope you find a new favourite.
With love,
Emma & Katrina
